A surprising find in a Dutch Harbor, Unalaska, midden has led archaeologist Catherine West to study ancient climate change adaptation on the Aleutian Island. The central research question driving her project is this: Could there have been sea ice on this landscape and in this place 2,000 to 4,000 years ago?
