CAST unites engineers and scientists to advance research on robotics, drones and machine learning

The Center for Autonomous Systems and Technologies (CAST) is an interdisciplinary research center focused on developing autonomous systems that think, act and assist independently, expanding the scope of human possibility to solve problems, as well as the range of exploration in extreme Earth and space environments. At CAST, researchers from Caltech's Division of Engineering and Applied Science, Division of Geological and Planetary Sciences and the Jet Propulsion Laboratory will collaborate to create the next generation of autonomous systems, advancing the fields of drone research, autonomous exploration and bio-inspired systems. Researchers will continue pioneering work on technologies such as a flying, self-driven ambulance and prosthetic legs that use machine learning to automatically adjust to a wearer's gait.
