Researchers uncover computer performance mysteries by studying variance in high-performance systems

The VarSys Lab in Virginia Tech's Department of Computer Science in the College of Engineering explores computer variance in large-scale computing systems. Variability in computer systems is little understood and can cause performance issues in large scale systems that are critical to our everyday lives and also scientific breakthroughs. Research being conducted by the VarSys Lab is helping to make exascale computing systems more robust.
