Tweeting From The Depths
The USF EcoSystems Technology Group operates the Tavros fleet of Solar-powered Autonomous Underwater Vehicles (SAUVs) used to deploy sensor packages in coastal environments. Totally autonomous, the Tavros SAUVs' most obvious features are their solar-panels, which allow for nearly limitless duration deployments. The Tavros vehicles are depth rated to 600 meters, allowing for delivery of sensors to deep water environments. An assortment of onboard communications equipment enables real-time telemetry via a variety of mechanims, for robust instrument control.
