Advancing the science of electron microscopy

Manipulating matter at the atomic scale is critical for engineering new materials and devices. Energetic beams offer many routes for stimulating structural transformations in materials, as well as characterizing materials at the nanoscale. Carnegie Mellon University professor Yoosuf Picard's research group develops and applies methods for using energetic beams -- electron, ion and photon beams -- in order to process and characterize materials at small length scales.
