Innovators: Making Sci-Fi A Reality
Much like the early Star Trek tricorders, a new and advanced camera for high-resolution, single particle, cryo-electron microscopy (cryoEM), will help reveal the secrets of biological structures. With support from the National Science Foundation, David Agard, a professor at the University of California-San Francisco (UCSF) and scientists at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (LBNL), and Gatan Inc., are developing a new camera system that will revolutionize microscopic imaging, making science fiction a reality.
