Assessing water health

Fresh water is a precious resource to all. Yet despite the importance of clean water to everyday life, nearly three quarters of Virginia rivers and streams fail to meet simple state standards. Groups including the Department of Environmental Quality and a nonprofit called StreamWatch monitor water quality through a combination of assays. This video proposes a complementary and sensitive biological assay and an open-access online framework to bring diverse research groups together in action.
